Local.com is no small cookie either when it comes to the world of local search and should fit in well as a partner of Looksmart’s Furl as LOOK works on building distribution channels for their 2.0 bookmarks and archiving offering. According to Local.com, during November 2005, Local.com reached 5 million unique visitors and over 21 million page views (up from 1.5 million unique visitors and 6 million page views in October 2005). In addition, Local.com is also working with partners such as MapQuest, Acxiom, Ingenio Pay Per Call, and Interchange owned ePilot.

They also offer a nice “Send To Phone” feature which allows Local.com users to send local business contact info, addresses and maps to their cellphones. "Consumers search and buy locally – and Local.com provides them instant access to comprehensive local business information,” said Heath Clarke, CEO of Interchange Corporation, owner of Local.com.

In news on Thursday, GUS Plc has acquired PriceGrabber.com for $485 million to add the U.S. provider of Internet comparison shopping services to its Experian credit checking facility. "This acquisition further complements Experian's existing online operations, connecting consumers to businesses over the Internet", London-based GUS Plc said yesterday in a Regulatory News Service statement.
