(Continued) The RFS Newsletter, Dec. 10, 2005. Page 14 Question -- Serge, I love your newsletter! Congrats on your fine work. Lately, we have enrolled in Google's AdWords PPC program. The next day we started it, we got an automated email from Google saying "our account has been slowed". What does that mean? How can it be "slowed"? I didn't contact Google yet, since I think you would have an answer for us. Thanks Serge. Answer -- That's a very good question, and is indicative of the ones we are getting regarding Google's AdWords program. When you get an automated message from AdWords saying your account has been slowed, it simply means that either you are probably targeting too many keywords at the same time, or that your keywords are just too broad. An example of a broad keyword would be "food" or "real estate". Since such keywords compete with millions of other Web pages, it might trigger the error message you got from Google. I use AdWords myself and, although I am still a bit new at it, I had that same "slow message" too the next day I started my ad campaign. So I went back to my control panel and removed some of the broad keywords I had placed and instead replaced them with more 'focussed' keywords.
