Question -- Serge, I wish to thank you for your time in writing such a splendid newsletter every week! I hope you can help me with my question. A Web designer told me I need to get a new domain if I wish to have my site's rankings go up. Is this true, and if it is, please explain. Thank You!

Hello and I'm happy if you like our newsletter. I totally disagree with that. That person dosen't know how Google works. With Google's new algorithm now in place, the age of a domain name is now carefully calculated by Google. When I say the age, I'm talking of the date the domain was registered and how long has the site been online. Sometimes, people register a domain but don't build their site until a year or two.

So as you can see, with everything else being equal, an older domain stands a much better chance of producing good rankings results than a new one. And I haven't even started to talk about Google's so-called Sandbox theory.
