Next, don't ever neglect the power of a unique and descriptive title tag
that contains one or two of your important keywords or search terms.
Again, on many of the different shopping cart software that I've seen, most
if not all the pages have the same title tag which is probably the name of your
company or your site's domain name which is totally useless as far as the search
engines are concerned. If your page sells blue widgets, make sure that the title
tag for that page is blue widgets. Again, read your software's admin manual or
contact your vendor to learn how you can correct this very critical but simple
problem.
Another common problem being displayed by many types of shopping cart software
is long and meaningless URLs. Be especially careful of the ones that have an ampersand
(&) in them, since Google and most of today's modern search engines will stop dead
in their tracks almost everytime they see one, This is very bad, since they won't
be able to follow that URL and they won't be able to index that page either. A while
back, I wrote a good article that can help you with this, and attempts to repair many
of today's common SEO problems with dynamic and database-driven eCommerce sites.
