Of course Google was isn't even born at that time! Back in those days, the two biggest search engines that people were talking about all the time was Yahoo and AltaVista, which Yahoo acquired in full in mid-2003.

I do honestly believe that the SEO field will continue to change as fast and as profoundly as it is today, and for at least the next 4 to 5 years. For instance, just look at how fast Google is progressing and all the amount of search-related (and even unrelated) applications it is coming up with...
