(Continued)     The RFS Newsletter, Nov. 19, 2005. Page 11

My ISP, who I have been with for 10 years or more, doesn't know anything about the 302 or 301 redirects. The company that I registered my domain name (which also provides the redirect), well their website is too complicated for my un-sophisticated internet knowledge. Is there any way you can help me without complicated computer "talk?"

Hello and thank you for the kudos. I still fully agree: a 301 permanent redirect command is always better than a 302 temporary redirect, as far as SEO is concerned, and this is exactly what I said in my article. However, I must be honest and tell you that Google just finished a huge 3-part update (called Jagger) that started on Oct. 16 and that ended only a few days ago! In the process, there are thousands of sites that dropped, while some have moved up and others have stayed at exactly the same spot. That is the world of search engines as we know it today! Maybe your's dropped as part of the update. Or again maybe it is due to the 302... You can read more about the Jagger3 Update here.
