Note the http://www in the absolute link example. This is what Google seems to like. Additionally, over the past 2 years, I've also noticed that absolute links seem to better "distribute" PR (PageRank) more equally over all the pages in a site.

This is a bit more work, because you have to type in your domain name inside the link everytime you create one, but trust me, this is time well spent! I've had time to experiment this technique on different sites and I can tell you it does work. Most HTML editors I know of (and there are many) don't seem to offer this feature, and that even includes the one I've been using for the past 8 years! Take the time to do it right and you will be glad you did!
