I understand your problem, but even in your case, I still would have used a permanent 301. Temporary 302’s are just too risky and aren’t worth it, in my mind. As much as we can, we always perform 301’s on an exclusive basis, just to prevent this thing from happening. You should ONLY use a 302 when you really really have too, since Google really hates 302's, and I've seen more than one site getting penalized because its site owner or his webmaster did'nt know any better. Always try to avoid a 302 at all costs. Always use a 301 and you will be OK.
