Google counts many of the back links to your site, but does not always count all of them, and dosen't always show them in its results. In fact, for as long as I can remember, Google has been pretty much always like that. For example, I know for a fact that, in almost all of the 3,000 sites we’ve optimized in the past two years, none of them are shown the accurate number of links.
