Answer -- Hi. I'm glad if I can help. Yes, you are taking a big chance that some search engines could either penalize or ban your site. Search engines don’t like duplicate content and even less duplicate websites, even if your intentions are perfectly legitimate. There are two solutions (one or the other) that I would recommend to you in a situation like this:

Solution 1:
Get better and more elaborate software that will enable you to place the number of products your company really needs. The one you are using now seems limited and inflexible. Also, make certain that the new software package can take plenty more items you might want to sell in the future, allowing your company sufficient room to grow. That way, you can forget about having duplicate content, or worse, duplicate websites!

Solution 2:
Keep the same software you have now, but make 100% sure that the homepage on your second site is totally different in terms of text and content. You can still build a second site (if you really have to) that will have the same look and feel as your main site.
