Somebody just told me I should create a mirror site of my main site, using a second domain name, to increase my visibility in the search engines. Before doing any of that, I wanted to have your opinion on that subject. Is it a good idea to have a mirror site or should I drop the idea? Answer -- I’m real happy if you appreciate the newsletter and if it helps you in your rankings. To answer your question, NO! A mirror site is always a BAD idea! A mirror site only signals to the search engines one thing: DUPLICATE CONTENT and triggers all kinds of alarms, bells and whistles, especially in Google and Yahoo with their new algorithms. Whoever told you that has no idea how search engines operate and what is considered spam by the search engines.
