Answer -- I certainly understand your hesitation and why you are so cautious. I'd do the same if I were you. There's no question that a site the size of yours, with the large number of pages and the huge amount of content it holds is mind boggling to say the least.

That said, I'm sure your reasons wishing to fully redesign it from the ground up are very legitimate and worthwhile. However, what I would do is sit down and, with the help of your wife (and/or anybody else that works on the site) have a group meeting and discuss all your ideas, place them on paper, carefully plan what you will do next, etc. etc.
