Answer -- Hello. Yes, it does have an effect. We've had this question a few times before but lately we've been getting it more and more. Let's take a hypothetical example. You live in the U.K. Your main market of interest is in the U.K. as well. You're not really much interested in selling outside of the U.K. In a scenario such as that, I would suggest that your site be hosted on a server located in the U.K., and obviously with a U.K. IP address.

If a local user residing in the U.K. uses Google.co.uk instead of Google.com, with all else being equal, the search rankings of your site on Google.co.uk should come AHEAD of a search done on say Google.com or Google.jp.
