I'm still getting the same question, againOver the past week, I've received three emails from our current subscriber base asking me what's the best tool to use today for keyword research. The question is very appropriate, since accurate keyword research is as critical today as it ever was before. I've said it before and I will say it again: the proper identification and the correct information as to the real keywords Internet users are typing into the search engines is the single most important step of any generic optimization process. At no point in the SEO process does it get as critical as this. Optimize a site for the wrong keywords and you will constantly get enquiries and orders for products you don't even sell on your site! Over the years, I've used many different tools to correctly identify the right keywords of a specific industry before we start optimizing any given Web site. The only tool I keep going back to is Wordtracker. Why do I keep going back to it? Simply because it works! I have NOT found a better tool yet. Sure there are imitations and other tools that try to mimic it, but Wordtracker really does deliver real and accurate keywords, consistently and every day. One of the best features I love the most is its ability in coming up with keywords I never even dreamed about. Here's a hint: if a specific keyword or group of keywords has been searched at least 100 times in the previous 60 days, you can bet your bottom dollar that you need to create at least one page in your site and optimize it for those keywords. We do it here all the time and our clients appreciate the additional traffic and sales that come to their sites. Optimizing a site without really knowing what you're optimizing about is like flying blind and without the proper flight instrumentation. Don't underestimate it. We see it all the time; a company sets out on its best intentions and, to save a few dollars, it dosen't perform any keyword research and thinks they can get away with it. About a year later, and when they realize their site isn't brigning any targeted and qualified traffic, they ask us "what's wrong with our site?" That's when we tell them that they didn't perform any keyword research. They then turn around and tell us "well we KNOW what OUR keywords are! We've been in this business for the past 20 years". No matter how long you've been working in a certain industry, Internet searchers consistently type in the search engines keywords or questions most people have never seen before, and the only sure way you can find out about this is with a strong tool like Wordtracker. Wordtracker costs a lot less than you think. You can use it a whole week for just $30. They say time is money... In SEO, it's a lot more than money. If your site isn't optimized for YOUR right keywords, how many sales will you lose? Sometimes, losing one sale may also mean losing ten, since you never know if one happy customer will refer you ten more... At Rank for $ales, it's the ONLY keyword research tool we use. We wouldn't even think of using anything else. We have a motto here: if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. By the same token, I will also say that, why change something when that something works consistently and delivers quantifiable results all the time? Why not make Wordtracker the only keyword research tool for your site? Well, that's it for this week. Have a pleasant and relaxing weekend, I will see you all next Saturday!
