Stay away as far as you can from them. They are bad news and nobody in in his right mind today should even consider them. How are they doing it? It's very simple. They install a java or PHP script that looks at the IP address of all visitors, and if the script detects an IP that comes from a search engine, it serves that engine a useless page that is full of keywords but that the average human wouldn't be able to read.

On the other hand, if the IP address isn't on the 'list' the scripts then serves a valid Web page to what it thinks is a real human visitor. If it sounds like a lot of nonsense, it's because it is! I can't believe that some webmasters still think they can get away with this old trick. It may have worked a bit in the pioneer days of the Internet back in 1995 or 96, but it won't cut it anymore today.
