Judging by the large amount of letters and emails I've been getting ever since Google ended it's Big Daddy Update back in mid-April, it appears that many site owners and webmasters have been getting similar results to yours. Keep in mind that Big Daddy was a lot more than just your average Google update.

It's in fact an understatement to call it an update. During the mid-January to mid-April 2006, Google performed its largest infrastructure changes in its history. It added more data centers, made important and critical modifications to its search algorithm, implemented some drastic changes in an effort to reduce search engine spam in its index, etc. etc. The list is almost endless.
