If you think the use of rich graphics can enhance the reading experience of your visitors, then go ahead and do it-- hire a professional graphics designer if you can. Also, make sure all your pages are heavily inter-linked. The search engines like that a lot. Last but not least, try to get as high a PR (Page Rank) as you can for your site.

To become an authority web site, you will need at a bare minimum a strong PR 5 on your homepage. If you can get a PR 6 or 7, that would be a lot better. PR isn't everything, but when you're building an AW, you need all the help you can get. The little green toolbar can help a bit in that department. One of the best ways to help increase the value of your PageRank is to buy links from a reputable links broker.
