Online Site Builder and why everybody loves it!If you've been reading this newsletter for two years or more, you KNOW that it takes a lot to impress me when evaluating a product or service, and, generally speaking, I prefer to stay 'low-key' when giving my impressions or offering my opinion on any specific product or service. A year ago, I wrote a report on my findings about Online Site Builder and the many reasons why I think it's a great Web design tool. In fact it's the only design tool that I have found so far that is search engine-friendly. Remember that this isn't just a site editor. It's four tools-in-one. The beauty is that anybody can use it, whether they have ever created a site or not. Since that report, at least over 200 of the subscribers to this newsletter have written me, thanking me for spreading the word around and letting know just how easy it is to build, maintain and OPTIMIZE a site with it. Since more than fifty percent of site owners don't know a thing about HTML or programming, and don't have the time or the desire to learn, and since many of them aren't willing to spend thousands of dollars in creating a new site or rebuilding their existing one, Online Site Builder makes a WHOLE lot of sense! In the last two weeks, I've also received three emails from some of you complaining that the free demo wasn't able to let you see a site created in the online tool unless you bought one of the four available packages. After I tried it myself and saw that there was a small glitch with OSB, I decided to call George Baker at Avantex Hosting and asked him to also try it. George immediately said that there was a small problem with it, since you couldn't see the page or the site that a user would have created, using the free online demo. Online Site Builder is sold and supported by Avantex, the great hosting company that is hosting this newsletter, along with our other three Web properties. It didn't take long for George's team to find and fix the problem, and within less than an hour, the demo site was back on its feet. George said that the problem was mostly apparent with people that used Internet Explorer version 7.0 but that all older versions were working fine. OSB also went without a problem with Firefox, Netscape and even Opera. So I'm happy to report that I was able to create four test pages, using four different templates and that it took me less than 30 minutes to make them. Do I like OSB? Yes, very much so. As I said earlier, it's the only Web design tool that I've seen so far that is search engine-friendly, so that makes it VERY special. Would I recommend it if it wasn't? What do you think? To say that Online Site Builder is a success is more of an understatement. After using it myself for over 18 months now, I can confirm to you that it does what it says. Depending on the package you choose, it comes with up to 212 different templates, designs, colors, textures, etc. I was overwhelmed a bit the first time I started using it in January of 2006. There are a lot more different themes and styles to select from than I initially believed. Starting at just $14.95 a month, Online Site Builder was designed specifically for people that have NO programming knowledge and that don't know (or care) how a website works. If you don't want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on having a Web site done by professionals, then Online Site Builder is for you. Does that mean that you can't use HTML anymore? Of course not. HTML is the language of the Internet AND of the search engines! But this is all what OSB does: it converts the text you write in its user-friendly online interface into HTML for you. If you know how to use a simple text editor or word processor, you will rapidly learn, usually in less than an hour, how to use this great tool. One of the part that I like a lot is that, unlike all other CMS packages I've seen and tried, OSB allows you to create your own description tags, your title tags and all your meta tags, if you do decide to write meta tags that is.

 Another added benefit is that independently of which model of Online Site Builder you select, it comes with its own hosting package both for your Web pages and your email addresses! You won't ever have to shop for Web hosting anymore! I strongly recommend that you try the free online demo. You can use the demo as much and as often as you need. Once you've tried it, you will agree with me that it's a great and easy-to-use Web design package. The best thing is that there's no software to download or install on your computer, since, as the name implies, Online Site Builder is an online service: you do everything on the Web. Plus it also features great photos and graphics that you can use as much as you want. Have a great site with a professionnal touch at only a fraction of the cost if you would contract with a commercial Web design firm or studio. Plus, as I said earlier, the tech support at Online Site Builder is fast, friendly and very knowledgeable. Give me your feedback.
