A homepage is always a bit trickier to optimize than a single-product page, since it has to be too "general". The more 'generalized' a page is, the tougher it will always be to optimize. If you would have 20 products, yes-- you would need 20 individual products pages, if you want to rank high in the search engines.

Since we are on the critical subject on how to optimize a homepage that will rank high, there are a number of things you should know on the subject. Last year, I wrote an article on the correct way to optimize a homepage, the things you need to do, and, most importantly, the things you need to avoid.
