Question -- Serge, I've been told that Google as well as most of the biggest search engines cannot index PDF files. Is that true? About 40 percent of our site was done with text embedded in PDF documents. Thanks.

Answer -- Up until about a year ago, it was true. However, someone at Google told me that since about March of 2005, Google can now index PDF files without any problems. The same thing goes for PR. I'm discovering more and more pages on the Web that were done in PDF and they have PR (PageRank™) values on them. That means if one of those PDF files links to your site, it will pass some PR to your site, which is certainly a good thing.

As for Yahoo and MSN, I can't confirm it at this point. Maybe as of today, they still can't index them. However, PDF files are gaining rapidly in popularity and I think it would be in all the search engines' best interests to index them all. My 2 cents.
