Question -- Serge, is a directory listing in DMOZ still worthwhile? In the last year I've applied twice for my site to be listed in the ODP and it still isn't. Is the whole thing a waste of time? Thanks.

Answer -- Considering that DMOZ (or the Open Directory Project) is a free directory, and especially considering that Google still takes its directory information from it I would say it's worth taking the time to submit your site to it.

The secret in being listed in DMOZ is to submit your site to the right category. Remember that it is editor-approved and hand submitted so it does take time.

Some time ago I wrote an interesting article on How to Submit your Website to the DMOZ Directory and it will offer you great tips on what to do and how to do it correctly.

If you're nice with them they might be nice with you. Hope that helps.
