Question -- Serge: we're just about to embark on the complete redesign and overhaul of our current website and I want to make sure that nothing goes wrong with the search engines. It has been online since mid-2000 and during these past six years we've managed to get some fairly decent rankings in Google, MSN and Yahoo. Our site now weighs in at about 1,800 pages and has a decent PR 5 on its homepage and between PR 3 and PR 4 on most of the inner pages. As you always seem to recommend, we have a site map that is updated everytime we add new pages and we've also followed your long-time recommendation by creating a news section of our industry for our site users.

My question is this: our site currently cannot accept any online purchases and we don't have a products catalog or anything like that. Our two Web programmers here want to implement a products database, complete with a shopping cart and secure checkout area that will be used for credit card payments. Any particular suggestions at this point in time? Are there any "traps" or warning signs you can provide us with? A lot is riding on this so a warm thank you Serge.
