2) Whatever you do, DON'T link your two sites together. I know the temptation is strong, but don't do it. It would be too risky.

3) Monitor your search rankings on both sites at least twice a week. If you see anyone of them slip, it's a sign they are too similar. Build original and UNIQUE content for both sites. Rewrite all the pages if you have too.

I know this may sound like a lot of work and it is, but it's the only way to play it safe with today's complex and advanced search engine algorithms. In 2004, I wrote a good article on how to protect yourself against a duplicate content penalty. Read it; there are some very good tips in it. Good luck with your site.
