Question -- Serge, I keep receiving some invitations to partner in reciprocal links exchanges. First, what are they and what should I do with these? Is it normal that I'm getting more and more?

Answer -- A Reciprocal Link Exchange Program, or RLEP for short, is one method to help increase the traffic to your site and thus your Page Rank in Google. Reciprocal Link Exchange Programs are, as their name implies, an exchange program where site owners, webmasters, companies and even individuals exchange links between them.

In order for RLEP's to be efficient, first, you need inbound links to your web site that are preferably at the PR 4 level or higher. As a general rule, Google will take mostly into consideration links with a PR of 4 or higher in order to pass the "benefit" along to your site. One additional benefit of a link exchange program is increased traffic to your site that you might not get if you didn’t have the link in the first place.

To be truly efficient, you should only link to sites that are in the same industry as yours, without being your direct competitors.
