Page 14 So yes, I can certainly understand that it is frustrating for you as much as it is for us, but maybe you should pay a bit less attention to that little (and now 'unreliable') green toolbar. Its certainly true that Google based a great part of its ranking system on its underlying Page Rank Algorithm which states that the more websites link to your's the higher your PR will be and the higher it should appear in the results pages. However, you should consider that Google and all the other search engines constantly change, adjust and recompile their search algorithms all the time. I can tell you that three years ago, a typical update at Google lasted between 24 and 48 hours max. Now, they take weeks to complete. Three years ago, Google's index was less than 850 million pages. Today, Google's index is about 8 billion pages long! Thats about 10 times bigger in just three years!
