As it pertains to a website, keywords and key phrases are the words on your web pages that need to match these exact search terms in order for your site to drive targeted traffic to your company or online business. Targeted traffic equals interested site visitors which in turn will convert into buying customers. Please click here to read the article.
My predictions for search in 2008Like I always do at the beginning of every year, I've now completed my predictions for 2008 as it relates to the world of search. But first, let's go back to my predictions for 2007. As they turned out, I was pretty accurate on them. I had said that people need to expect a lot more and new innovations coming from Google and that has certainly happened. Another important development I had predicted for 2007 was the growing trend of social sites and their strong impact in today's new Internet marketing ideas. Gone are the days where a company would simply advertise a product somewhere and expect sales to start rolling in. Today, consumers and especially online buyers are a lot more sophisticated and they rely on the experiences and comments of others that have bought the same product before they make up their own minds. In that segment, social sites such as Facebook and MyTube certainly had a large and important impact, and will certainly continue to grow in 2008 and also in 2009. But let's restrict ourselves here to 2008. As for Google, I will make a similar prediction as I did last year: continue to expect a lot more from the search giant. And I will make another one: Page Rank will have less and less importance in the overall search rankings in Google than it had in the past. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Google completely eliminate it altogether from their search results. Time will tell... As for Yahoo, we all know it's not easy being Number Two. In the past year, Yahoo has made some very critical and important changes in the leadership of its management, one of them being the departure of it's CEO Terry Semel. Yahoo will have to follow more in the footsteps of its largest competitor and continue to innovate more, not just in the field of search but also with mobile applications similar to Google's new Android mobile project. If Yahoo is serious about mobile, it HAS the resources to do it. As for MSN Live, well the year will tell us what will happen to it. A bit like Yahoo, if Microsoft IS serious about search, it can also do it, and it even has more resources than Yahoo does. This will be interesting to see. As for the rest, stay tuned to this newsletter for more... Happy New Year to all of you, by the way! Well, that's it for now.
